...whilst watching MONDO HOLLYWOOD this week, i couldn't help but marvel at the 'wacky' soundtrack by Mike Curb, a PhilDickian machiavelli, as it turns out...
...here's his Hollywood F.A.M.E. Awards profile...

...WOW! way to go Mike, but whenever i hear the word "philanthropist" these days i'm haunted by that scene of the philanthropical eugenicist bill gates, in africa, injecting children for the cameras, an image burnt onto my retina by the BBC's recent gates-sponsored promo (sorry, hard-hitting documentary, i meant to say), so now i'm hooked. On his own site HERE, you won't find mention of his work on Mondo Hollywood, nor on Wiki, but you will find the oft quoted party-line "Mike Curb, was elected Lt. Governor of California in 1978 despite being falsely accused of "singing falsetto in a bathtub scene in the film with two lesbians." Over to Mike...

...by 1970, Curb had risen from jingle writer to President of MGM, and began the industry witch hunt on "drugs" with a Billboard announcement, dropping 18 acts in a cull supported by Nixon. Most of the acts were poor sellers and had little to do with ANY drug culture, unlike Eric Burdon and War, who stayed and continued to match their sales with their drug consumption. Into the vacuum this created (along with some dodgy drug deaths), Curb then injected the Osmonds, yes the Osmonds, we have Mike to thank for THAT, along with his assault on the BIG money Country market, spearheaded by Lyle Lovett, the Judds and later on a 13 yr old (same age as Donnie, and Marie were ) LeeAnn Rimes. Oh, and lest we forget his soundtracks for Lassie and Hot Wheels and Mickey Mouse and Nixon and ol' Raygun himself for his successful presidential campaign in 78. Add to all that his NASCAR trophies and his political triumphs and you can see why i like Mike so much, I can't imagine why anyone would call him "the most evil man in muzak"...
